Les Bourgs Hospice will take over the OSA Recruitment pop-up shop in Smith Street, St Peter Port from 12 to 17 August 2013.

The shop, which has been used on a temporary basis by a number of charities and organisations including Les Bourgs Hospice in December 2011, will be manned by volunteers and the Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice.

“Our loyal volunteers and Friends never cease to amaze us with their generosity. We simply couldn’t do this without them,” said Les Bourgs fundraising administrator Trish De La Mare.

“We want to thank OSA Recruitment for allowing us to use the shop again as it’s a fantastic way of raising the profile of Les Bourgs Hospice,” she said.

“We will be selling cakes, sandwiches and drinks throughout the week as well as some items from our charity shops and we will also use it as a way to promote our new Hospice-tality for our Hospice fundraising initiative,” Ms. De La Mare said.

OSA Recruitment has offered Les Bourgs Hospice another week in the shop either in late November or early December 2013 when it will sell a cookery book produced as part of the Hospice-tality for Les Bourgs Hospice initiative which will see islanders hosting food-related events, large or small, with guests making a donation to the hospice in return.

“The event is gaining momentum all the time. We had originally thought we might do it over one month but the enthusiasm being shown has led to us making it an ongoing fundraising initiative,” she said.

“The idea was to create an event that everyone could take part in, no matter whether they are old or young, live in a small flat or a large house, have lots of friends or a select group.”

“Hospice-tality for our Hospice is the perfect excuse to get together with people that matter while raising funds for one of the island’s most loved charities and we are delighted with the commitment so many people, companies and groups have already shown,’ said Ms De La Mare.

OSA Recruitment manager Belinda Windsor said the shop had proved incredibly popular.

“The OSA Recruitment shop provides charities and voluntary organisations with a temporary Town centre location which we know helps raise their profile,” Belinda Windsor said.

“We hope Les Bourgs Hospice will benefit enormously from their week,’ she said.
