The popular RG Falla Quarter Marathon is aiming to raise thousands of pounds for Les Bourgs Hospice.

The six mile run from Vazon to L’Eree and back again is now in its 12th year and has raised previously raised money for Save the Children and Help a Guernsey Child.

RG Falla was privileged to be the main contractor on the new Les Bourgs Hospice and so it was fitting that we chose them to be the beneficiary in 2011 and 2012.”

“Although the building is now completed, RG Falla, as a local company, was very keen to continue that support as we recognise the vital and unique service that they are providing to local people with life-limiting illnesses,” Peter Gregory, RG Falla joint managing director, said.

“We know that those people taking part are also huge supporters of Les Bourgs Hospice and so having such a popular charity as the beneficiary is a big incentive for people when they enter.”

The run on Sunday 19th May 2013 is open to both individual runners and teams.

Team entries need to include four or more runners and the team’s time will be calculated using the fastest four runners in each team.

Prizes will be presented to the fastest male, female and team and all runners will be entered into a prize draw.

“Each year we are impressed by the number of entrants and we are hoping for a record turnout.”

“The weather hasn’t been too kind to runners in recent months and so we will be keeping our fingers crossed that it is perfect running conditions on the day,” said Mr Gregory.

Les Bourgs director of nursing Jo Boyd said the support of events like the RG Falla Quarter Marathon were absolutely essential.

“Each year, we need to raise £800,000 to cover the running costs alone and that is a huge and constant challenge.”

“Without events like the RG Falla Quarter Marathon, that challenge would be even harder and so we want to thank everyone taking part for going that extra mile or six to help islanders when they need it the most,” she said.

Teams need to pre-register before 16th May 2013 and individuals can register in advance or between 9.30am and 10 am on the day of the race.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the RG Falla website.
