The Heritage Group is sponsoring the 2013 Rock to Rocque Bike Ride, with all the proceeds going to Les Bourgs Hospice.

The annual bike ride, now in its 20th year, has become a key event in the local fundraising calendar and last year attracted over 600 cyclists raising an impressive £20,000 for the Hospice.

This year, the ride will take place on Sunday 26 May 2013 and organisers hope for an even bigger and better event than in previous years.

“We aim to make this a real family fun day out as well as attracting the more ‘serious’ cyclists”, said event organiser Mira Domaille.

“The complete route is quite a challenge and takes cyclists around the entire Island.”

“For the less proficient rider, there are two other starting points offering shorter and gentler route alternatives.”

“This means that families with young children, teenagers and grandparents can all take part. Last year there were even toddlers in chariot trailers,” she said.

The event also coincides with the last day of Ian Brown’s 30/30 Challenge when cyclists ride one hour every day for 30 days – also raising money for Les Bourgs Hospice. The Rock to Rocque ride is the perfect way to complete their month long challenge.”

Richard Tee, Heritage Group CEO, explained why he was keen for the organisation to get involved in this event.

“The Rock to Rocque is a great way for people to support an extremely worthy cause. Les Bourgs Hospice fills an incredibly important role within the Island,” he said.

“Our sponsorship will mean that even more monies go directly to the charity to enable it to continue to deliver such a valuable service to our local community.”
