Can any financial services company raise more Swimarathon funds than Saffery Champness?

October 2nd, 2012 by Saffery Champness

Saffery Champness is fielding 18 swimmers for the 2012 Skipton Swimarathon which is on the 3rd to the 7th October.

The fiduciary and accountancy firm has entered two teams, made up of a mixture of staff members and their children, for the 36th Swimarathon.

Last year Saffery Champness were presented with the RG Falla Cup by former Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland for the most funds raised by a financial services company, after swimming 254 lengths and raising £1,023.74.

The main beneficiaries of the funds raised in 2011, which totalled just under £41,000, were Young People Guernsey, and the extreme sports park at the Beau Sejour Leisure centre, which is set to open in March 2013.

This year funds will go to the Guernsey Cardiac Action Group, which aims to provide training for public access defibrillators as well as to raise awareness of heart disease in the Bailwick.

Nick Batiste, Saffery Champness’ 2012 team captain, who also took part in the 2011 Skipton Swimarathon, relishes the challenge of the Swimarathon.

“Saffery Champness always gets a great team together. We have fantastic support from colleagues, friends and family. It’s a great fundraiser that my family and I love taking part in,” he said.

Saffery Champness has paid for the swimmers to co-ordinate their teams with branded swimming caps for the event.
