Skills Guernsey hospitality industry workshop on 6 November 2012

September 30th, 2012 by Skills Guernsey

Skills Guernsey has organised a workshop on ‘Showcasing careers in the Hospitality Industry: how can employers engage and encourage local young people and job seekers?’

The workshop will be from 8 am to 9.30 am on Wednesday 6 November 2012 at the Coutanchez Site of the Guernsey College of Further Education.

Skills Guernsey understands that employers in the hospitality sector often struggle to recruit the calibre of staff they need from the local population and therefore recruit staff from overseas.

It is understood that locally sourced staff alone cannot provide for the full needs of this sector.

Skills Guernsey would like to explore ways in which the hospitality industry can showcase the careers and opportunities available to islanders so that more local people with relevant skills are attracted to the sector.

Skills Guernsey believes that this will benefit both the hospitality sector and the Guernsey economy.

Chris Chilton, Skills Guernsey business member, and Trevor Wakefield, Principal of the Guernsey College of Further Education, will consider the issues associated with showcasing different sectors of Guernsey’s diverse economy.

Please register your interest for the Guernsey hospitality industry employment workshop by email: skillsguernsey or by telephone 01481 733044.
