Guernsey teddy bear picnic to aid Les Bourgs Hospice on 29 July 2012

July 16th, 2012 by The Venue

Teddy bears from across Guernsey will be helping raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice on 29 July 2012.

The Venue at Fermain Valley Hotel is hosting a teddy bears’ picnic on Sunday 29 July between 2.00 pm and 5.00pm with all the proceeds going to Les Bourgs hospice.

“Come rain or shine, what a fabulous teddy bears picnic it promises to be – we’ve arranged an afternoon jam packed full of exciting entertainment for the whole family,” said Steven Langley, Conference and Banqueting Manager.

“Activities include a bouncy castle, cup cake decorating, mask making, animated story telling with Penny the Postie and the Guernsey Academy of Theatrical Education and “Alice in Wonderland” will be shown in The Venue’s cinema suite at 1 pm, 2.30 pm and 4.15 pm.

We have a pushchair valeting service which is bound to be popular with parents.”

Tickets, which can be bought in advance over the phone from The Venue or on the gate, cost £5.00 per child, which includes all of the activities on offer, and £7.50 for adults, which includes a delicious afternoon tea buffet. Teddy bears enter for free.

“Special thanks go to the Bouncy Castle Man for donating his services, to all of The Venue and Guernsey Academy of Theatrical Education volunteers and to Guernsey Post and Penny the Postie. Their support means we can raise even more money for Les Bourgs which provides such wonderful care,” said Mr Langley.

Chairman of the Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice Jack Honeybill said the afternoon looked set to be very popular.

“Les Bourgs Hospice is solely reliant on the generosity of islanders and it always very humbling when we see just how much effort people put in to help us cover the cost of the services we provide to islanders. We’re very grateful to The Venue and everyone involved with what looks like an afternoon of family fun,” he said.

The Teddy Bear Picnic takes place at The Venue and its surrounding gardens.  The Venue, located at the top of Fermain Valley, can be accessed from Fort Road.

Parking is limited and but additional parking is available at Le Chalet Hotel, Sausmarez Manor and The Fermain Tavern.
