AFM provides free building system maintenance to Les Bourgs Hospice

June 22nd, 2012 by Amalgamated Facilities Management

AFM has agreed to provide ongoing maintenance to Les Bourgs Hospice for the next two years.

The company will provide more than £30,000 worth of support to Les Bourgs Hospice, which moved into a purpose built facility in 2012.

RG Falla was extremely proud to be the main contractor for the redevelopment of the hospice, which provides such a valuable service to the Bailiwick.”

“As another Garenne company, AFM is delighted that we can build on that relationship by offering support and maintenance provision of all the mechanical and electrical services within the building,” said AFM commercial director Darren Etasse.

“The new Les Bourgs Hospice has been installed with a large number of new and technical building systems, which require regular specialist maintenance and technical support. As part of AFM’s support of the community, we are more than happy to provide these services and help reduce the operational costs of this worthy charity.”

The package includes maintenance on all mechanical and electrical services including fire alarms, generators, security systems, heating, plumbing, lighting and ventilation, a 24 hour helpdesk and as Chartered Building Services Engineers and Designers, AFM is also providing free consultancy on any technical issues.

Les Bourgs Hospice director of nursing Jo Boyd said the support from AFM would reduce the pressure on fundraising.

“Les Bourgs Hospice is totally self-sufficient and receives no financial support from the States of Guernsey. It costs £2,000 a day to provide the care and services that we do, to people with life-limiting illnesses. We had already been impressed by the work that RG Falla had done and the help that AFM had given us when we moved from our temporary home at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital and so to be offered this additional support from AFM is amazing. It’s a huge comfort to know that we can call on their expertise whenever we have a problem over the next two years.”

This is the second community project which AFM has announced this year.

In April, it announced that it would be undertaking a regular maintenance programme for La Vallette Bathing Pools to ensure that all four pools were clean and clear for bathers.

“AFM is a proud local company and as we have grown, so too has our support of the community. This year, we have identified a number of larger projects that we can lend our expertise and experience to which will provide enormous benefit to those involved,” said Mr Etasse.
