Please volunteer to help the lives of young people in Guernsey

May 29th, 2012 by Young People Guernsey

Young People Guernsey is currently recruiting volunteers to assist at their new Youth Information, Advice & Guidance Service based in St. Peter Port, Guernsey..

We have commissioned Barnardo’s to run this new service for young teens from the Centre that will open in the summer of 2012.

Professional local staff have successfully been recruited, and Barnardo’s would now like to recruit teams of volunteers to provide listening and other support to the professional staff.

There may be several potential volunteers within your organisation. Barnardo’s would be delighted to chat to them further about the role.

The Youth Information, Advice & Guidance Service will offer a caring, independent and supportive environment for young people aged from 11 to 16 years old to access help, advice and information regarding any issues that may be causing them anxiety.

This may include all areas of health (sexual, emotional, mental and physical), family matters, relationships, alcohol and drugs, education and training.

In addition, a listening service will be available for children to be able to talk confidentially about their problems.

Volunteers are required for this listening service, providing one-to-one support both in the Centre and elsewhere. Full training will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering for this service, please contact Yvonne Claridge, Volunteer co-ordinator, on 07917 053 857 or by email: yvonne.claridge @
