Resolution Ltd provides funding for Floral Guernsey

October 28th, 2011 by Floral Guernsey

A MAJOR sponsorship deal has been struck to secure the future of Floral Guernsey.

Resolution Limited, the FTSE 100 listed company which owns the Friends Life insurance group, is Guernsey incorporated, and has agreed to help the local charity, as part of its corporate social responsibility policy, and to ensure its involvement in the local Guernsey community.

The sponsorship, of £35,000 each year for three years, will fund the Floral Guernsey Community Competition and a programme of festival weeks, like the recent successful Autumn Festival Week.

One of four local directors of Resolution, Denise Mileham, is pleased that the company is able to give something back to Guernsey.

“The Resolution group is proud to be associated with Floral Guernsey. We want to show our support for the community and this is an initiative that celebrates one of Guernsey’s strengths and is a very successful event that is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike

“The charity has an amazing team of volunteers and it’s very rewarding to be able to provide the financial resources needed for Floral Guernsey to continue. The parish displays managed by the floral groups entering the community competition this year were simply outstanding,” she said.

2011 has been another excellent year for Floral Guernsey. The St Martin’s team recently represented Guernsey in the “small town” category of the Britain in Bloom awards where they secured a gold medal. The charity has also supported gardening initiatives in the island’s schools and encouraged sustainable planting projects.

Tony Spruce, Chairman of Floral Guernsey, said he was grateful to all the sponsors who support the initiative and he is enthusiastic about Resolution’s involvement.

“Having contemplated reduced activity for 2012 we are thankful to Resolution for this investment in, and commitment to, the Guernsey community which will allow us to deliver a full programme. We look forward to another exciting year for Floral Guernsey,” he said.
