Eighth Annual L’Eree Beach clean on 13 June 2010 a great success

Over sixty people took part in the 8th annual L’Eree beach clean on 13 June 2010.

Primary school students from Hougette School took part along with scouts, beavers and cubs from the 9th St. Peters Scout Group.

Beach litter was collected in used 25 kg. capacity mixed poultry corn paper bags and no. 4 LDPE plastic 75 litre compost bags.

The beach clean-up crew collected two large sacks of plastic bottles, and a large sack of aluminium drink cans, which were all recycled.

In addition there were six large sacks of mixed waste including fishing tackle, a plastic cover for a vacuum cleaner, black plastic soffits and gutters from a house, lumps of solid tar , heavy duty boat vessel chain, broken glass bottles, and assorted small plastic and Styrofoam pieces, which would be harmful to beach users, sea and bird life.
