The Steady State Economy Conference on 19 June 2010

May 14th, 2010 by Richard Lord

The New Economics Foundation (NEF) has organised a one day conference on The Steady State Economy.  The conference takes place in Leeds on 19 June 2010.

The Conference will explore an ecological and socially responsible alternative to economic growth.  Never-ending economic growth is not considered possible on a planet with finite resources.

The speakers include environmental studies Professor Peter Victor of York University; Andrew Simms, Policy Director and Head of Climate Change and Energy at NEF; Dan O’Neill, European Director for the Centre for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy; and by video link Tim Jackson, who is Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey.  There will also be ten interactive workshops conducted by a number of specialists in the field.

Registration for the conference can be done on-line and costs £30 before 31 May and £50 thereafter.
