On 19 September 2010 during Beachwatch weekend the Guernsey Conservation Volunteers cleared litter from Portinfer beach on Guernsey’s north-west coast. Intertrust Group volunteered their time to clean L’Ancresse Beach on a sunny Saturday morning. During Beachwatch volunteers record what is collected. This information is sent to the Marine Conservation Society for collation and analysis. The MCS produce an annual report of the state of British beaches and the amount of litter collected.

States of Guernsey employees and politicians, employees from many Guernsey companies, and voluntary groups take part in clearing our shore of litter. The Marine Conservation Society Beachwatch Weekend litter survey and clean-up that began as a national event, has taken place on the third weekend of September every year since 1993. It is now a part of a global event. This year’s Beachwatch occurs on 19 and 20 September 2009.
