World Oceans Day 2011

World Oceans Day is now officially recognised by the United Nations as 8 June each year. The Day was first proposed by Canada at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Guernsey residents organise beach cleans on this day. The theme for World Oceans Day 2011 is ‘Youth: the next wave for change.’

8th Annual L’Eree Beach spring clean-up on Sunday 13 June 2010
