Shortly after 11.30 am on 6 January 2013 by the old lifeboat slipway in St Peter Port harbour, Guernsey the countdown started, the horn blared, orange flares were lit, and the bathtub boat race participants were off the start-line to raise funds for Channel Islands Airsearch, RNLI St Peter Port, and Guernsey Sailing Trust.
