Guernsey Bicycle Group is proud to support Cycle to Work Week from 22 to 26 May 2017.

It’s the perfect excuse to dust off the bike, pump up the tyres, lubricate the chain (if necessary), and take the bicycle for a spin.

Cycle to Work Week is a great opportunity to join the many Guernsey people who cycle as part of their daily commute.

Nearly two thirds of Guernsey’s population live in the northern half of the island, where the ride to the main areas of commerce is only a few miles away, and over a fairly flat area.

From The Bridge, St Sampson to the waterfront of St Peter Port is a pleasant, mostly by the seaside, ten minute journey on a bicycle, and with no parking difficulties when one arrives on a bike, it can often be quicker to cycle to work this way than to drive.

Cycling to work offers an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, be more intimate with nature, and perhaps socialise with other cyclists.  You’ll arrive at work more refreshed than if you had sat in a car.

The Guernsey charity encourages people to commute by bike if they haven’t done so already.  Those new to cycling to work may find it a delightful and enjoyable way to start the day, and it may turn out to be a surprisingly fast way to arrive at the office.

The GBG Facebook page has more information on Cycle to Work week.
