Eleanor Foundation’s Hug the Coast Bike Ride on 21 September 2014

September 18th, 2014 by Richard Lord

This year’s Eleanor Foundation annual bike ride begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday 21 September 2014 at Grand Rocques car park on Guernsey’s west coast.

Registration begins at 9.45 a.m. at Grand Rocques car park.  A donation of £10 is requested from individuals and £20 from a family.

The annual bike ride, which is conducted at a leisurely pace, is a wonderful community event for the whole family.

The bike ride follows a route around the north coast of Guernsey to finish in Market Square, St Peter Port.

The Eleanor Foundation, set-up in memory of Eleanor Carey, raises funds to install water pumps and bring clean drinking water to communities in the Kagera region of Tanzania.

The Eleanor Foundation also collects secondhand bicycles from the Channel Islands and ships them to Re~cycle in Colchester, which then distributes the bicycles to several African countries where they are used for carrying people, supplies and drinking water over long walking distances.

To take part in the Hug the Coast Bike Ride please fill in the registration form, which you can do beforehand, or during registration before the start of the bike ride.
