The OSA Pop-Up shop in Smith Street, St Peter Port will be transformed into a Volunteering Centre to mark National Volunteers’ Week 2014.

From Monday 2 June to Saturday 7 June 2014, the Pop-Up shop will be occupied by a wide range of charities that are actively seeking volunteers.

For those thinking about volunteering, this presents an easy opportunity to drop in for an informal chat about what opportunities are out there.

The shop on Smith Street will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

“We want to make volunteering as accessible as possible, so the pop-up shop is perfectly located to catch workers during their lunch break or after work,”’ Laurel Le Tocq of the Guernsey Community Foundation said.

“There is no pressure to commit and each day will carry a different theme – for example, charities for the Elderly on Monday, Disability Charities on the Wednesday. ”

“We just want people to consider dropping in to speak to the people at the coal-face of charities to see what help they might need,” she said.

A full timetable for the shop will be published closer to the time but for now charities, voluntary organisations and voluntary groups who need volunteers are encouraged to contact the Guernsey Community Foundation to book a space in the shop.

Spaces can be booked by contacting [email protected]

The key daily themes are: Elderly; Health; Disability; Community Support Services; Overseas Aid, Conservation and Animal Aid; and Children & Youth.
