Barrie Duerden has set himself the challenge of participating in a 100 mile non-stop off-road run to raise funds for Guernsey Cheshire Home.

Barry writes that he expects this run “to take me to the limit of my mental and physical abilities” which is one reason he has decided to team up with the staff and residents at Guernsey Cheshire Home to raise funds to help them carry on their fantastic work.

Guernsey Cheshire Home assists physically disabled people in Guernsey to live as close to a normal life as possible allowing them to do things that the physically able take for granted.

Barrie has set-up a JustGiving page to make a donation to Guernsey Cheshire Home.

Please give generously whether it’s to encourage Barrie in his effort to keep going for 100 miles or to show support for Guernsey Cheshire Home.

Barrie was going to run the Ultra-trail South West which begins on Friday 21 June 2013 in the fishing port of Polruan on the South coast of Cornwall, and finishes on Cornwall’s north coast near Newquay but due to a recent injury he has incurred he has had to postpone his running challenge.

He writes “in some ways, this setback reminds me why the Guernsey Cheshire Home is such a good cause. While this injury is irritating and inconvenient, it is tiny compared to the daily challenges that the Guernsey Cheshire Home residents face.”
