At a gentle pace but in very quick time the cyclists were surrounded by countryside.

The relaxed pace allowed for ample opportunity to chat with fellow cyclists.

Ian Harding led the cycle ride on his foldable Jango Flik bike, which is lightweight and has many attractive features, such as an attachment for a backpack on the bicycle seat.  Our progress was followed on the route map shown on the large screen Samsung mobile phone located between the handlebars.

Seeing Guernsey while cycling provides a sensual and pleasant view of the island.  Cycling provides an intimacy with the landscape that cannot be achieved sitting in a car, and although a road may have been well travelled by car before, it appears incomparable on a bicycle.

The Guernsey Bicycle Group summer evening rides over ten Tuesday evenings explore many Guernsey locales. There’s a good chance cyclists will pedal down lanes they don’t recognise or may not have visited before.

Even with the mostly overcast weather, the 11 June ride was pleasant and relaxing, and what surprised was how much of Guernsey had been quickly and easily traversed in such an enjoyable and leisurely way.

The pleasurable cycle ride was over all too soon.
