The charity Autism Guernsey is recruiting volunteer Befrienders to spend time with adults with an autism spectrum condition and/or a learning disability.

The Befriending Scheme is a joint project that Autism Guernsey is running with Guernsey Mencap.

Autism Guernsey hopes to commence training with the first group of volunteer Befrienders in the summer of 2013.

Autism Jersey has over 50 matches and refers to the scheme as the “jewel” in their crown, which is a something that Autism Guernsey wishes to aim for,” said Andy Graham, Executive Director, Autism Guernsey.

“I would be most grateful if you could forward this request for befrienders to anyone who may be interested, and if possible, print the PDF flyer and post it on the noticeboard at your work or college or community building,” he said.
