Around 2,000 t-shirts are on order for both walkers and helpers at the 2013 ITEX-Rotary Trust Walk in both Guernsey and Jersey.

Waitrose has agreed to cover the cost of purchase and printing of the t-shirts which will display a bespoke design by 12 year old Abi Jarvis.

Duncan Langston, Jersey Branch Manager of Waitrose, said “we’re thrilled to be supporting the Itex-Rotary Trust Walks in Guernsey and Jersey this year.”

“Waitrose is committed to supporting local charities and good causes across the Channel Islands so pledging sponsorship to this event was a natural fit for us.”

“We are pleased that so many charities and good causes will benefit from the fundraising efforts of those participating in this year’s events,” he said.

The walk will benefit the following Guernsey charities: Friends of St Martin’s Day Service, Friends of Priaulx Library, GSPCA, Guernsey Ambulence & Rescue Service, Guernsey Voluntary Service and Every Child Our Future; and the following Jersey charities: Mind Jersey, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Air Training Corps.

“A number of our Partners will be volunteering at the events by providing refreshments and manning the start and finish lines offering their support to the walkers. We’re also hoping that a number of our Partners will even be brave enough to take on the challenge,” Duncan Langston said.

Richard Parker, Itex Market Development Director, is delighted to have such a household brand supporting the events.

“Support from corporate sponsors is vital to the success of the walks,” he said.

“To have secured funding for the t-shirts makes a real difference, and means that monies raised will go directly to the charity funds for distribution to our selected local causes. We are extremely grateful for Waitrose’s generosity and for that of all our other supporters across the islands,” Richard Parker said.

The 2013 Guernsey ITEX-Rotary walk takes place on 8 June 2013 and the Jersey walk takes place on 22 June 2013.

Organisers hope to top the number of participants from the 2012 walks which totalled about 1,800.

Registration is already open.
