Other events scheduled to take place during the week include a guided walk to discover the habitat and history of the unique Lihou Island; a tour and tasting of Haut Maison fruit liqueurs; a birdwatching walk in St Andrew’s; and a children’s workshop – ‘Tiny Tots, Wiggly Worms and Mini Beasts’ – to introduce the joys of growing and garden ecology to the under-fours.

The Spring Festival Week is one of the many events organised by Floral Guernsey to enhance the local horticultural community and showcase the island’s rich and varied ecology.

The events are all made possible by a three-year sponsorship deal with Resolution Limited, Guernsey’s first FTSE 100 company.

“This is an excellent island initiative for Resolution Limited to support. Each year Floral Guernsey provides a wide range of superb events that cater for all levels of gardener and truly help to rally interest in our island’s floral identity,” said Peter Niven of Resolution Limited

“Cleve West, who has been recognised with no less than seven gold medals by the Royal Horticultural Society, will be a real highlight this year and promises to be very inspirational to our green-fingered islanders,”Peter Niven said.

John Woodward, Vice Chairman of Floral Guernsey, hopes the diversity of this year’s event will encourage interest from the gardening community and beyond.

“We are fortunate to be able to offer such varied activities and we try to cater for every interest and level of expertise. The support from Resolution is invaluable and allows us to focus on bringing interesting content to islanders at a reasonable cost, as well as being able to call upon the expertise of professionals like Cleve,” he said.

“We hope many islanders will join us in exploring the inherent beauty of our islands unique habitats.”
