The 2012 Skipton Swimarathon got off to a bang on Wednesday 3 October at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre and again on 4 October with the first of two “At large” events held in schools.
So far, 30 teams have swum to raise funds for this year’s Guernsey Cardiac Action Group appeal, bringing in over £6,000 in just two evenings.
With a focus on fun, the event has seen a team of scuba divers swimming underwater for the opening hour and a male swimmer raising additional sponsorship swimming in a bad taste 1970′s ladies swimming cap.
5 October will see the second At Large event at St Sampson/Baubigny and a further 65 teams will take part at the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, as the event has its first full day of swimming.
There are still a few lanes available for Friday Evening, 5 October, and Saturday, 6 October so visit the Swimarathon website to register or call James on 07911 716983 and enter your team and join in the fun and fundraising.
Teams of 4 or more are invited. Swimmers can get together as family groups, friends, from clubs, schools and of course company teams are welcome.
You can also stay up-to-date via the Swimarathon Facebook page or keep up with the latest news on Twitter
The Skipton Swimarathon is not an endurance event.
The organisers want people to join in and have fun while raising money for good causes here in Guernsey.
If you’re not a strong swimmer you can still take part, even if you only complete a couple of laps.
