What can be recycled at Longue Hougue facility and opening hours

The Longue Hougue recycling facility is reached by a turn-off to the east from Bulwer Avenue.

Opening Hours

From 1 April to 31 October the facility is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 4.00 pm.

From 1 April to 31 October on Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays the facility is open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

From 1 November to 31 March the facility is open from Monday to Friday from 7.30 am to 4.00 pm and on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The Longue Hougue Recycling Facility is CLOSED on Christmas Day (25 December), Boxing Day (26 December), New Years Day (1 January) and Guernsey’s Liberation Day (9 May)

The Longue Hougue recycling facility accepts household batteries, car batteries, whole bricks, household cardboard packaging, cooking oil, video tapes, compact discs (CDs) and DVDs, electrical equipment, intact fluorescent tubes, white goods such as household fridges and freezers, gas bottles, hand tools, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, used printer cartridges, cans of paint, hard plastic items, televisions and computer monitors, and used engine oil.

Any porcelain or china (dinner plates, coffee and tea mugs, floor and bathroom tiles, etc) and drinking glasses can be put into the skip for building rubble or aggregate.  This will be ground-up and used as road fill or for land levelling etc.

Good quality wooden and metal furniture suitable for use by someone else can also be deposited at the Longue Hougue recycling facility for collection by someone else.
