The Venue at Fermain Valley Hotel held a very special Teddy Bears Picnic on Sunday 29 July 2012 which saw 200 people and countless bears enjoying the day, with the proceeds of over £1000 going to Les Bourgs Hospice.
“Helped by the weather, it was a fabulous day out for all the family and we are delighted that so many people attended,” said Robert Steen, General Manager of Fermain Valley Hotel.
“Many enjoyed it so much they asked when next year’s Teddy Bears Picnic would be. Our heartfelt thanks goes to all of The Venue, Les Bourgs Hospice and GATE volunteers, Bigkidz, Bouncy Castle Man, Sausmarez Manor and to Guernsey Post and Penny the Postie” said Robert Steen, General Manager of Fermain Valley Hotel.
Activities included bouncy castles, cup cake decorating, mask making, face painting and the very popular animated story telling with Penny the Postie and the Guernsey Academy of Theatrical Education.
Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice Helen O’Meara said the afternoon was a huge success.
“Les Bourgs is solely reliant on the generosity of islanders and it always very humbling when we see just how much effort people put in to help us cover the costs of running the Hospice,” she said.
“We’re very grateful to The Venue and every one of their staff, who all provided their time on a voluntary basis, which is a testament to the team spirit at Fermain Valley Hotel and The Venue. It was a fabulous afternoon of family fun,” she said.
This year Vista Hotels Group, which encompasses The Venue, Fermain Valley, Le Chalet and Sunnycroft Hotel in Guernsey, and Braye Beach Hotel and The Divers Inn in Alderney, have partnered with Les Bourgs Hospice as their charity of the year.
The Group and its employees have committed to help raise funds to assist with the on-going running costs of the hospice, which provides vital care to island residents.
