People in Guernsey withdrawing cash from RBS International or NatWest cash points will now have the option of making a donation to charity, the first time the service has been made available on behalf of a local charity in Guernsey.

As of 14 June 2012, islanders will be able to donate money which will benefit eight charities including the locally based Les Bourgs Hospice Guernsey and three national charities Cancer Research UK, Barnardo’s and Children in Need.

The service will be available to all islanders, not just Bank customers.

Jack Honeybill, Chairman of the Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice, said “we are delighted that the RBS International has decided to support us with this new initiative as they have already been very supportive with our current ‘Cash Cow‘ and ‘Million Pound Lottery‘ projects.

“The Hospice is an integral part of the Bailiwick and relies on public donations, bequests and sponsorship to fund the free service provided and this is yet another way of encouraging the public to help us.”

Rob Girard, Island Director, RBS International, said “charities do very important work in the community and we are very happy to support this new vehicle for giving. We know that finances are tight for many people, but if our customers do want to make a donation we want to make the process as easy as possible for them.”

Donations will be debited from the account and credited to their chosen charity the next working day. Donations between a minimum of £1 to a maximum of £150 per transaction can be made via RBS International and NatWest ATMs to the following charities:
