The States of Guernsey Public Services Department has installed attractive on-the-go recycling bins in areas around St Peter Port where people gather to relax with a soft drink or sit on a bench to have a snack.
Each bin has three compartments – one for recycling plastic bottles (plastics 1,2,5 and 6), one for recycling tins and cans, and another compartment for general refuse. The top of the bins also has a cigarette stubber plate, an ashtray, and a container to hold cigarette ends.
Eighteen of these bins are planned for the parish of St Peter Port. Ten have already been installed.
