Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent has raised over £2,000 following the success of a second hand designer clothes sale on Saturday 16 June 2012.
The charity, which has recently been partnered by local fiduciary, funds and accountancy firm Saffery Champness, held a second hand clothes sale at Les Cotils offering a wide range of designer items donated by the public.
Clothing by Ralph Lauren, Armani, Karen Millen, Calvin Klein, Gucci and Prada was donated, as well as much more.
Helping the charity on the day were a number of Saffery Champness staff who sorted and labelled all of the clothes.
The sale bought in just over £2,000 which will be used by the charity to support local children with cancer and their families.
The charity raises funds for CLIC Haven, a ‘home from home’ just a short distance from Southampton General Hospital which offers free accommodation to families while their child is undergoing treatment there.
The unsold donated clothes have been given to the Les Bourgs Hospice charity shop.
Belinda Netherton, chair of the local CLIC Sargent branch, said “the quality of donations we had was fantastic. I am astounded by the generosity of the Guernsey public.
“It’s great to have help from Saffery staff. The CLIC team are all volunteers so it has been extremely useful to have extra hands both in the lead up to the event and on the day. Support such as this is invaluable.”
CLIC Sargent is a UK national charity helping children with cancer and their families.
The local branch of the charity supports Bailiwick children in Guernsey and in the UK.
