May 21st, 2012 by The Association of Guernsey Charities
Volunteers’ Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make right across the British Isles.
The Association of Guernsey Charities will celebrate the work done by local volunteers, and hopefully inspire others to get involved.
BBC Guernsey and The Guernsey Press will publicise the wide variety of work that is undertaken by volunteers. Malcolm Woodhams, Treasurer and Website Coordinator of The Association of Guernsey Charities, is preparing a list of people who can be interviewed either on the radio or in the newspaper. He needs as many names of Guernsey volunteers as possible.
The Guernsey Press intends to devote a full page each day during Volunteers’ Week to tell the stories of local volunteers.
The Association of Guernsey Charities is asking if your Guernsey charity has any volunteers that would be willing to take part. If you think that there might also be a good photo opportunity, then this would be an advantage.
The Association would like to involve as many different types of voluntary work as possible, and tell the stories of why people volunteer, and how they got involved.
The Guernsey Press is building their stock of stories over the next few days, so if you have people that you can suggest, then please email details to: mail @ charity.org.gg as soon as possible so that the necessary arrangements can be made and these people can be included in the publicity.
Please let us know the name of the person to be interviewed, and how and when it is best to contact them (ideally by providing a mobile telephone number). Thank you for your help.
