The fifth annual 30in30 Challenge, organised by Ian Brown of Ian Brown’s Cycle Shop, begins on 5 May 2012.  A record number of participants, including 33 first timers, will ride their bikes for one hour each day over 30 consecutive days to raise money for Les Bourgs Hospice. Each rider aims to get 30 sponsors at £1 each day for Les Bourgs Hospice.

The event begins with a participants’ group breakfast at St Emilion Café at 8.00 am.

The previous four challenges have raised a total of £210,321.04. With a target of £50,000 for this year the 30in30 challenge should pass the one quarter of a million pounds mark raised for Les Bourgs Hospice since 2008.

Ian Brown said “Les Bourgs Hospice fundraising activities have long been associated with cyclists and the Rocque to Rock bike ride. We know of many individuals who cycle regularly who may be looking for a new challenge and this is why we came up with this idea.”

The 30th day of the 30in30 Challenge will coincide again this year with the Les Bourgs Hospice ‘Rocque to Rock’ bicycle ride on Sunday 3 June 2012, on the traditional around the island route from White Rock.

Each year the 30in30 challengers have been recognised for the jersey each rider gets to wear during their challenge. White, blue, yellow and pink jerseys have been used in previous years.

This year the jersey is a vivid green, which will make the 30in30 riders recognisable at all hours of the day.
