RenewableUK 2012 Wave & Tidal conference & exhibition in Edinburgh on 15 March

RenewableUK, the trade association representing the wind, wave and tidal energy industries, is holding its annual wave and tidal conference on Thursday 15 March 2012 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC).

Wave and Tidal 2012 is a must for anyone interested in the development of the sector’s huge potential, not just in the UK but worldwide.

About 450 industry professionals and government representatives are expected to attend the conference sessions.

Fifty companies are will be showing the latest technological developments in this dynamic field at the accompanying exhibition. The Core Sponsor is The Crown Estate, which leases seabed sites to developers.

The keynote political speaker at the opening session will be the Scottish Government Energy Minister, Fergus Ewing MSP.

Other keynote speeches will be made by Rob Hastings, Director of the Marine Estate at The Crown Estate, and Maria McCaffery CBE, Chief Executive of RenewableUK.

The BBC journalist Stephen Sackur will be chairing two panel debates, one on the design of wave devices, the other on financing the wave and tidal sector.

Senior representatives from The Carbon Trust, National Grid, Barclays, Rolls Royce, Aquamarine Power, Atlantis Resources Corporation and Pelamis Wave Power are among those speaking at the 2012 conference sessions.

The UK wave and tidal energy sector is just getting started but it has huge potential for growth. Currently the UK has an installed wave and tidal energy capacity of 7.665 MW.
