Nominations for The Guernsey Community Awards accepted until 5 October 2011

The Community Awards established by The Guernsey Community Foundation is the first ever such Awards programme in the Bailiwick of Guernsey that will formally applaud and recognise local charities, individuals and corporations in Guernsey who raise money for charities and embark on community projects for the benefit of others both across the Bailiwick and further afield.

The Community Awards, whose principal sponsor is State Street Global Services, along with the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce, Schroders Private Banking, Specsavers and Sportingbet, are a celebration of community spirit.

Five individual awards will be presented at a special afternoon of celebration and recognition on Wednesday 9 November 2011 at St. James’ Concert & Assembly Hall.

Guernsey is well known for its exceptional effort and ability to raise money and contribute many hours of voluntary work to the benefit of individuals and communities inside and outside of the Bailiwick.

Whether it is a fundraising project run by a local charity, a group of individuals or teams from corporate organisations, or members of the public who simply feel motivated to come together to benefit a chariable cause – Guernsey punches well above its weight.

GUERNSEY CHARITY OF THE YEAR – sponsored by State Street Global Services

Awarded to the organisation that the Judges believe has consistently delivered outstanding service to its beneficiaries; promoted and raised its cause; been clear in its goals and strategy and demonstrated excellence all round, especially within the last year.

OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT – sponsored by Schroders Private Banking

Awarded to a person who has demonstrated innovation, teamwork, passion and integrity throughout their involvement, and who has produced an identifiably profound effect on a charity through their work and/or leadership.

FUNDRAISING TEAM OF THE YEAR – sponsored by Sportingbet

Awarded to a locally based fundraising team on the basis of its innovation and results that achieve or exceed the aims of a campaign, or campaigns, during the previous 24 months.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AWARD – in association with the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce

The CSR award recognises the active involvement of a commercial company directly with charitable or community projects in its locality, or through its partnership with a local charitable organisation that has had a quantifiably positive effect on the local community over the last year/s.

OVERSEAS AWARD – sponsored by Specsavers

The Overseas Award is for a local charity or initiative whose work benefits areas outside the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
