National Zero Waste Week runs from 5 to 11 September 2011

August 27th, 2011 by Events

This year’s Zero Waste Week takes place from 5 to 11 September.  The theme is ‘Reducing waste away from home.’

(click on the banner to go to the Zero Waste website)

There are many ways to reduce waste while away from home such as:

  • Avoiding straws and disposable cutlery when eating out
  • Taking a zero waste packed lunch to work or school
  • Using your own travel mug rather than disposable plastic cups
  • Using your local ‘on the go’ recycling bins
  • Taking an American-style ‘doggie bag’ or container home for restaurant food not eaten

Please visit the Zero Waste Website for more information about Zero Waste Week 2011 .

Follow us on twitter and join our Facebook page and sign-up to our facebook event.

Please let us know how you have managed to reduce your waste.

Thanks so much for sharing about zero waste week with your readers. I hope some of them feel encouraged and inspired to join in – I don’t know what the facilities are like on Guernsey; it was many years ago when I visited and I was a teen who didn’t have an ounce of knowledge about sustainability, but let’s hope we can raise awareness during the week and bring about some positive change.
