The 30/30 Challenge is a charity event in support of Les Bourgs Hospice with 100% of the funds raised going directly to that organisation.

The challenge was instigated in 2008 to compliment the annual Rock to Rocque cycle ride. In the last three years the 30in30 has raised a total of £140,856.40 for Les Bourgs Hospice.

Ian Browns Cycle Shop organises and manages the event and underwrites all of the expenses therefore 100% of the funds raised go directly to Les Bourgs.

Each year Ian Brown’s Cycle Shop invite 40 participants from a cross section of Guernsey population to ride their bike for one hour per day for 30 days and find 30 sponsors at £1.00 each for each day.

In order to generate further interest in the 30in30 past participants have come up with their own unique challenges.

In 2008 Advocate Ian Beattie rode up and down the Val Des Terres 30 times non stop.

In 2009 Paul O Reilly cycled non stop for 30 hours a feat repeated last year by Nick Affleck.

For 2011 two riders, Jon Richards and Tim Loveridge, plan to cycle up 30,000ft of Guernsey’s hills during their challenge.

If you know any of the 40 participants from this year’s board of honour why not give them a call of encouragement and a donation however great or small.
