350.org is organising Moving Planet – a global day of climate action on 24 September 2011. 350.org describes it as a day to move beyond fossil fuels.
Bill McKibben, founder of 350.org, spoke about this global event at Power Shift 2011. He said “September 24 is the next big day of action. We’re calling it Moving Planet and in those 189 nations, people will be in motion. Much of it will be on bicycles, because the bicycles is one of the few tools that rich and poor both use.”
“We are not going to wait for the politicians to move, we’re going to create the future that we need ourselves.”
