On Saturday 18 September 2010 Schroders Private Banking joined forces with Jersey Focus on Mental Health, Grainville School and the States of Jersey Environment Department to take part in an environmental project on Beauport Beach and the surrounding area.

Hugh Lonsdale , Client Director of Schroders, along with Margaret Holland Prior and Tim Liddard, Senior Countryside Officer, led a group of enthusiastic Jersey Focus members and 20 energetic Grainville School students in the beautification of this much loved Jersey site.

The scrub at Les Creux was cut back in preparation for their arrival so that the group could get to work with cutters and gardening tools to remove overgrown bracken.

This will allow the native grassland to flourish and provides the ideal habitat for local species such as the Lesser White-toothed Shrew, Jersey bank vole and the Jersey and Blue-winged Grasshoppers.

The team also cleaned litter from Beauport Beach as part of the Marine Conservation Society’s annual ‘BeachWatch‘ event which took place that weekend on beaches throughout the UK and Channel Islands.
