On 18 and 19 September 2010 hundreds of Islanders will be combing the Island’s beaches as part of the Marine Conservation Society annual Beachwatch survey, which is organised locally by the Environment Department.
Beachwatch is the largest annual beach litter clean and survey in the UK, with thousands of volunteers combining efforts to clean dozens of beaches around the coast on the same weekend.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Guernsey Group hold their annual Open Day at the Peninsula Hotel on Sunday 19 September from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm. Admission is free.
To celebrate birds go on a guided walk, select new binoculars or maybe a telescope, buy your Christmas cards and other goodies. There will be children’s activities too. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available throughout the day.

As part of the Floral Guernsey Autumn Festival Week enjoy a tour of the Rocquette cider orchards on Sunday 3 October 2010 beginning at 10 am. Meet at Blanchelande College memorial gate (Rue Frairies next to Bob Froome & Sons crane hire).
