Why tap water is good for you

June 14th, 2010 by Guernsey Water

Guernsey Water has put together a leaflet outlining the benefits of drinking water for both physical and mental health. The leaflet also explains the advantages that tap water has over bottled water, and how Guernsey’s water is treated to make sure it is of the highest possible quality.  Guernsey Water has the leaflet available as a printed copy if you wish to contact them.

In summary the leaflet mentions that drinking more than five glasses of water per day reduces the chance of having a heart attack because drinking water thins the blood.

Sometimes our body tricks us into thinking we are hungry when in fact we are thirsty.  Drinking water can reduce your appetite.

Becoming dehydrated can make one think less clearly.  Dehydration can reduce concentration and short-term memory, and dehydration can produce a headache.

The leaflet also mentions several good reasons why Guernsey tap water is preferable to imported bottled water.
