Sticky: The Living Streets Tranquility Walk on Sunday 11 July 2010

June 15th, 2010 by Pat Wisher

The Living Streets Tranquility Walk starts on Sunday 11 July 2010 at 2.30 pm in Market Square, St. Peter Port and ends at L’Eree.  The Tranquility Walk is an eight mile challenge using the green lanes and Ruettes Tranquilles.  The walk takes three hours.   We encourage participants to wear green.

There is an alternative starting point at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH) for those who do not wish to walk up the hill from Town.

There will be a half-way stop at The Farmhouse for refreshments.

Comfort stops will be the PEH, St. Andrews Church and The Farmhouse.

The walk is in aid of the Living Streets Safe Route to Baubigny Schools project

We hope that islanders will gain sponsorship from family and friends and join Living Streets in this beautiful walk right through the centre of Guernsey’s countryside – through the parishes of St. Andrew, St. Saviour and St. Pierre du Bois.

When we reach L’Eree walkers can have a paddle, a swim, a picnic or barbecue, or get refreshments from the kiosk or from one of the restaurants or the L’Eree Hotel.

Living Streets recommends that walkers use the bus service to get from L’Eree back to their cars or home (the No. 7 and 7A (Town via the Bridge and Town via the Airport) and 5S and 5AS (to the PEH).

Alternatively leave the car at home and use the bus to get you to your chosen start point and then back home.

Visitors and islanders can join us at any point but we would appreciate a donation.

Further details from Pat Wisher on 268088.

Sponsorship forms and a map of the route, together with a poster, will be available for downloading on the Living Streets website within a couple of weeks.
