Guernsey Bicycle Group (GBG) launches Evening Cycle Rides for summer 2010

May 6th, 2010 by Francis Binney

Summer is here and what better way to enjoy the balmy evening and beautiful views of our island than with a gentle bicycle ride through quiet lanes with like minded folk ?

Once again, GBG, the Guernsey Bicycle Group, is organising a number of scenic rides every Tuesday evening throughout the summer.

Each ride lasts approximately 90 mins and starts at 7pm from a number of hand-picked locations around the island. The rides are free, open to all and meticulously planned to be a gentle outing rather than a sweaty hill climb !

The first ride departs the Forest Stores at 7pm on Tuesday 18th May.

The rides are suitable for all levels of ability, and the pace will be gentle. Two members of GBG will be on hand for each ride: one to lead the group and a “Sweeper” to ensure no-one gets lost !

Francis Paul, GBG chairman, said of the evening rides: “These organised bike rides have proved very popular in past years, and with more and more people appreciating the numerous benefits of cycling we expect these to be even more popular this year. People are often surprised at how effortless cycling is, especially in the company of others.”

The rides have been organised for the following dates:

18 May 7 pm meet at Forest Stores

25 May 7 pm meet at Bordeaux Kiosk

1 June 7 pm meet at SpecSavers car park

8 June 7 pm meet at Rousse Pier
